If you could get all the people in an organization rowing in the same direction, you could dominate any industry, in any market, against any competition, at any time.Patrick Lencioni
Have you ever been a part of winning a Team Championship, either in sports or something else? I have and it was the hardest, yet the most rewarding thing I have ever done!
I was on the team that won the Mississippi State Football Championship and the funny thing is, the year before we won the state title, we had a lot more talent on our team, but that year didn’t play together as a team of “ONE,” and we lost. What I mean is, the year we didn’t win the championship, we didn’t trust each other, we didn’t fully understand what success looked like to each one of us and some on the team put themselves above the team and we ultimately fell short of our goal.
The difference in the year we won the state championship title was the coach had us spend the off-season learning to work together as a team. We learned what each other’s roles on the team were, (Metrics) we learned how to push each other beyond what we thought was once impossible, (Discipline) and we learned that combined with Trust, we could dominate any team we played. We were undefeated that year.
I’ve watched this team at Elliott Homes work hard to own their roles, to grow and push past their comfort zones. Team Elliott has continually raised the bar, setting monthly records for sales, starts and closings throughout the year, all while growing and learning and as we start the 4th quarter, I am excited to see how far this winning team can go!!
