Time is Money…
That is mostly true since the time you spend is always an investment. Wise men and women must carefully consider every investment opportunity they are presented. They then choose to invest their cash in systems, ideas, and products that they believe will succeed in this world and ultimately reap them a return. Time is the same in this regard. You will reap returns on your time investments based on what you invest in. How you choice to spend each minute of your life will have an affect on your future. If you invest eight hours into sleeping, your return will be feeling more energetic and refreshed in the morning. Or, if you invest fifteen minutes into making a healthy breakfast, your return will be more energy and a better overall feeling throughout your day. Investing two hours into an evening with your family will reap stronger ties with those you love as well as relaxation.
The sad reality of this world is that we all have a limited amount of time that we can invest. Imagine you are handed a credit card and are told “this card has a limited balance which I am not going to disclose to you. Spend it on whatever you want.” What would you do? You might go the Mall of America and test the limits of the card until the Lego store finally declines your purchase. Or you might invest it in something you need; a computer, car, or house. You may also choose to make a larger investment into a company or idea you really believe in. The same is true of time. You have a limited amount but it is your choice how you invest it.
Time is also unique in that you cannot invest time to reap more time like you can with money. When you invest time, you reap life values such as money, health, personal connection with friends and family, character, and most importantly… others. The most valuable thing you can invest your time in is another person. Why is our company purpose to Create a Place Where Life Gets Better? We may invest in land, homes, and software but our most important investment of both time and money is the people.
What are the things in life that you value enough to invest your time in? Are there things you want to invest in but can’t because you have some bad investments plaguing your life right now? How would you go about transitioning to more lucrative investments? Are you investing in anyone today? Is there anyone that you can think of who would benefit in their lives from your investment?
Be wise with your time. Make some else’s life better because of your time investments. This is the true measure of success.
