Every morning we wake up to make a living than follow some sort of routine. However, there is a tremendous difference in each persons “why” behind this.
Some got out of bed because they had to. Others because they wanted to. Than some because they just could not wait to change the world.
The primary difference in these three motivations is 1 word…… Meaning
Meaning is driven by our actions from 1 of 3 categories;
• The 10% – who complain and try to slow others down
• The 80% – who follow the rest and work to just not fail
• The 10% – who passionately drive change
If our lives become a job our meaning will diminish. We then begin to wait for life to unfold and the future is no longer under our control. Life begins to feel like a clock as time is traded for money.
Along the journey we encounter things that will change this mindset if we allow it. To have another outlook and question our personal “why”. One based off results and not time.
We must grab onto these experiences and not be scared of them. Challenge ourselves to see life for more than just a job and measure our contribution toward it. Life then becomes a mission. While it is personally rewarding, those around us also begin to prosper. This is the point that meaning drives us. This defines Quality of life and has the power to change the world!
Reach beyond your comfort zone, engage in conflict and passionately improve daily. Meaning will replace pride and the world becomes an entirely different experience.
In the words of the great singer, songwriter, and philosopher Dolly Parton
“If your actions create a legacy that inspires others to dream more, do more and become more, then you are an excellent leader.”
Be apart of the 10% who lift the world, and inspire others to achieve more than they thought possible.
It is definitely not the easiest path but certainly the most purposeful.
